Looking at this Newcastle team v Everton.
Eddie Howe’s side aiming to follow up the Champions League victory in midweek against Qarabag.
That 3-2 home win giving a 9-3 aggregate success and progress into the last 16 of the Champions League.
Now we return to Premier League action.
Newcastle United knowing that a win would guarantee moving above Everton and potentially as high as eighth, depending on results elsewhere.
As a reminder, this was the Newcastle team v Qarabag four days ago:
Ramsdale, Trippier, Botman, Burn, Alex Murphy, Tonali, Joelinton, Barnes, Jacob Murphy, Osula, Woltemade
In his pre-match press conference, Eddie Howe saying that he expects Jacob Ramsey to be available after a hamstring scare saw him miss the midweek game.
Whilst Malick Thiaw is back available, having had a one match Champions League suspension.
However, Eddie Howe still without Tino Livramento, Fabian Schar, Bruno Guimaraes, Lewis Miley and Emil Krafth.
Taking all of that into consideration…
This is my predicted Newcastle team v Everton:
Pope, Trippier, Thiaw, Burn, Hall, Tonali, Joelinton, Ramsey, Gordon, Woltemade, Elanga
If the above ends up as the reality, it would mean six changes for Eddie Howe compared to the team that started against Qarabag.
With coming in – Pope, Thiaw, Hall, Ramsey, Gordon, Elanga
Dropping out – Ramsdale, Botman, Alex Murphy, Barnes, Jacob Murphy, Osula
Eddie Howe is gradually getting some players out of the recovery room and thankfully his option increasing.
Yoane Wissa is now available again but I think Nick Woltemade could be set to play centre-forward, with Gordon and Elanga on the wings. The former Forest winger and Big Nick did well in the 4-1 win over Everton on Merseyside and hopefully the same today.
I would assume Pope, Thiaw and Hall all come back into the defence, with Eddie Howe having a decision to make on whether Burn or Botman plays alongside Thiaw.
Joelinton and Tonali were Newcastle’s best two players on Tuesday night and I expect Jacob Ramsey to come back in today, to play alongside them.
