Kieran Trippier made his first league appearance for Wolves on Friday.
The England international having joined the Championship club after his Newcastle United contract came to an end on 30 June 2026.
Wolves eventually drew 2-2 with Blackburn Rovers, with Raul Jimenez scoring a penalty in added time to rescue a point.
However, they got the draw despite Kieran Trippier being forced off in the 68th minute through injury.
Wolves have now given an update on the former Newcastle United star.
Phil Hayward is Director of Performance at Molineux and he has now revealed the nature and extent of the full-back’s injury.
Hayward saying about Kieran Trippier: “Unfortunately, during the game on Friday night [against Blackburn] Kieran suffered an injury to his left MCL, the medial ligament of the knee, not dissimilar to Rafiki’s injury a few weeks ago, although this is a lot less severe.”
The Wolves Director of Performance going on to say: “It’s unfortunate that he’s going to be out now for a number of weeks. He will be in a brace for the next week and had an injection on Wednesday to try and speed up the healing process, but he’s going to be out for the next few weeks as he rehabs from that. Obviously, we’ll push him as quickly as we can, but it’s going to be a few weeks before he’s back on the pitch unfortunately.”
Best of luck to Kieran Trippier on a swift return to action at his new club.
