Bayern Munich has now made an offer to Anthony Gordon according to German media.
Sky Germany are reporting this on Tuesday morning.
This follows hot on the heels of news earlier today from Spanish media that Anthony Gordon’s representatives had met Barcelona Sporting Director Deco late last week. Sport publishing photos of Gordon’s agents attending the meeting last Thursday.
Now journalist Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany has stated that his information is that Bayern Munich have now formally offered terms on a five year contract to Anthony Gordon.
Whilst Deco met Gordon’s representatives on Thursday, previous to that it was reported by Sport BILD in Germany that Gordon Stipic-Wipfler (Executive Director of Unique Sports Group) had travelled to Munich the previous week to talk about a potential move to the Bundesliga champions (Bayern Munich having already confirmed their 12th title win in the last 13 seasons).
Vincent Kompany and Bayern Munich wanting Anthony Gordon to join the likes of Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Luis Diaz, other Premier League players who chose to move to Bayern.
Sport BILD report that the most likely sticking point that could prevent a move for Anthony Gordon to Bayern Munich, is their potential unwillingness to meet Newcastle United’s valuation.
In that reporting in Germany last week, Sport BILD claimed that the aim was for Bayern Munich to reach an agreement with Anthony Gordon first, then try to negotiate on price with Newcastle United.
Obviously you never know for sure with transfer stories until deals are completed. So we only have it on the say so of Sky Germany that Anthony Gordon has been offered this five year deal.
What I do believe now is that it appears to be the case that Anthony Gordon is set to leave Newcastle United this summer IF somebody meets their valuation.
It looks like Gordon’s agents are indeed having very public meetings with interested clubs and assuming that is the case, then it can only be surely due to Newcastle United giving the go ahead for talks to take place.
By allowing talks to be held with interested clubs, United obviously hoping this will help ensure they get the maximum possible money for the 25-year-old. Just as importantly, get a deal sorted early on and then plan accordingly to use the money to help bring in the targets Eddie Howe wants for next season. It had been previously reported that if he was to move this summer, Anthony Gordon himself wanted to get a deal sorted before the World Cup finals which are now only five weeks away.
The Newcastle United owners made a total hash of summer 2025, refusing to sell Alexander Isak and then doing a u-turn on deadline day. This totally sabotaged Eddie Howe’s pre-season preparations and having lost his two strikers (Wilson and Isak), their replacements arrived at the very end of the summer 2025 window, weeks after the season had started and zero pre-season with their new NUFC teammates.
