As usual, there has been speculation about what next season’s Newcastle United home shirt will look like.
Once you get past the turn of the year, the rumours start and it becomes a case of what to believe?
Claimed ‘leaked’ images of the new Newcastle United home shirt get circulated, often they are clearly images generated (invented!) by fans (or others), simply looking for attention.
Last year, United fans didn’t have to wait as long as usual to find out the reality.
For the first time in six years, on the final day of the 2024/25 season, the team wore the next season 2025/26 Newcastle United home shirt (kit).
Not that it brought much luck, Newcastle United losing 1-0 at home to Everton.
Or maybe it did have some knock on luck, as Aston Villa managed to lose at Man U and that meant United claimed the fifth Champions League spot via the Premier League placings, despite the St James’ Park loss.
As in previous years, early 2026 has seen images circulating online, claiming to show what the 2026/27 Newcastle United home shirt will look like.
By this point in time, considering how far in advance designs will be put together, it is possible that somebody could have seen the potential design of the new kit, or even the signed off final one.
The Times have now claimed an exclusive, saying that their information is that Adidas and the club ‘Are planning a significant departure from their traditional black and white stripes for their home kit next season. Instead of the famous clear, black and white stripes that Newcastle play in, the white stripes will instead have a series of thinner black lines running through them. It is a marked and deliberate move away from the bold black and white stripes of this season, and is part of a three-year kit plan implemented by suppliers Adidas.’
So what might this look like?
The Times stating: ‘Images of a new strip have already been circulated online. These are very close to the kit Newcastle will launch in a couple of months and wear next season.’
The newspaper exclusive using this online circulated image as one close to how the 2026/27 Newcastle United home shirt is going to look…
The Times going on to say: ‘The new design will have only one main, thick black stripe on the front of the kit. It will then have two wide white stripes with black stripes of varying levels of thinness running through them. There will be black stripes at the side of the kit. The black stripes on the sleeve will be pinstripes.’
As a reminder, this image above isn’t what the newspaper says will be the exact design, but they do claim that their information is that the 2026/27 Newcastle United home shirt will be very similar to this.
The Times also sharing what they claim is knowledge of the 2026/27 away shirt, plus a reminder that we could be set to shortly see a change when it comes to the club’s main shirt sponsor: ‘Newcastle will return to a club badge with a magpie on the front for their away kit next season — one that was last used in the 1980s. It will feature on a navy blue kit. The front-of-shirt sponsorship deal with SELA ends at the end of this season.’
What is for sure, is that Newcastle United face a huge summer, when it comes to decisions/changes on both the football and business side of the club.
