Newcastle United have now agreed transfer fee to sign Johan Manzambi from Freiburg reports Sky Germany

Newcastle United have now agreed a deal to buy Johan Manzambi, according to Sky Germany.

On Thursday the German broadcaster stating that agreement has been reached with Freiburg.

Sky Germany saying that a €60m (approx £51.1m) offer has been accepted by the Bundesliga club from Newcastle United for Johan Manzambi.

Newcastle United said to be now completing the final details with Johan Manzambi and his representatives.

Sky Germany reporting that Aston Villa were also interested in the exciting 20-year-old midfielder but they have lost out to Newcastle United.

Johan Manzambi has been one of the stars of the World Cup, scoring three goals and getting two assists in four appearances for Switzerland, though he missed their last 16 victory over Colombia due to a knee injury picked up in training.

If the deal is completed, Johan Manzambi could be set to be the fourth Newcastle United summer signing.

Ewen Jaouen was the opening NUFC buy of summer 2026 with a £24m deal done to bring the 20-year-old goalkeeper from Stade de Reims, then Hoffenheim agreeing a £43m move for 20-year-old winger Bazoumana Toure to come to Tyneside.

Tuesday morning saw the media in the Netherlands report that Newcastle United had agreed a £23m deal for 18-year-old Ajax central midfielder Sean Steur, with now the teenager having completed his medical and imminently to be formally announced as the summer’s third NUFC signing.

Johan Manzambi started his career at Swiss club Servette before moving to Freiburg three years ago and has made 58 appearances for Freiburg, scoring nine times, since making his debut for the club in August 2024.

Following the Sky Germany report, The Athletic have now also confirmed an agreement has been reached on a transfer fee of around £50m.
