Thursday morning saw breaking news in France that a deal had been agreed between Monaco and Newcastle United for the transfer of Aladji Bamba.
RMC Sport reporting that a deal in excess of £34m had been agreed, including future add-ons.
Now BBC Sport have reported that Aladji Bamba is arriving in Tyneside today to take his medical.
Following which he will finalise the transfer and sign a long-term contract.
After turning 19 in July 2025, Aladji Bamba made his senior debut for Monaco. He went on to make 23 appearances across the 2025/26 season in Ligue 1 and the Champions League.
Now after just turning 20 this month, the defensive midfielder is joining Newcastle United and set to play in the Premier League.
If/when he signs, Aladji Bamba will become the four new Newcastle United arrival into the first team squad, following Ewen Jaouen, Bazoumana Toure and Sean Steur into St James’ Park.
BBC Sport report that: ‘Among Ligue 1 midfielders who played at least 500 minutes last season, Bamba ranked in the top five for duels won (9.1 per game on average), tackles (3.6), successful take-ons (1.6) and aerial duels won (1.9).’
Aladji Bamba is one of the nominees for the Golden Boy award, which honours the best Under 21 player in Europe.
Bamba has played through the various youth levels with France, currently Under 20s.
