Newcastle United star Sean Steur has been speaking to the Dutch media.
The 18-year-old got called up to the Netherlands Under 21 side for the very first time.
This due to his form for Newcastle United.
Sean Steur a £23m buy from Ajax this summer, as United looked to buy the best possible young talent from the continent.
The young midfielder has been highly impressive for the Netherlands Under 21s and played the full match on Tuesday as they hammered Bosnia and Herzegovina 4-0.
After that win completed the internationals for the Dutch Under 21s, the NUFC player talking to fcupdate in Holland about his move to Newcastle United.
Sean Steur declaring: “I’m going back to England on Thursday, which I’m really looking forward to. I’m just having a great time there and I can’t wait to go back.”
Considering the step up to the Premier League, the midfielder has made the transition so well, though he believes far better to come from himself with United: “Things are going well but the physical aspect could be better. On the ball, everything could actually be much better. I don’t think I have reached my peak yet. So I look forward to developing that.”
Great to hear how grounded he is, Sean Steur accepting that he is only just starting out and isn’t the finished article yet.
Back in the summer there were doubts, especially in Holland, as to whether he was ready for such a big move to Newcastle United, especially considering how few first team appearances he had made for Ajax.
Sean Steur once again very honest: “As I just said: it can still get much better. But I am happy with how things are going so far. I need to keep this trend going and I only need to get better.”
Easy to forget that the very young players Newcastle United brought in this summer, are also having to get used to a new country and not having the levels of family support they may have had before.
Sean Steur: “My parents try to be there as often as possible, but I am a bit more on my own and independent now. It is a really nice neighbourhood, with friendly people. I actually have everything I need, so I can’t complain.”
