Eddie Howe gives his reaction to Ewen Jaouen agreeing to sign for Newcastle United

Eddie Howe has been reacting after Newcastle United completed the signing of Ewen Jaouen.

An official club announcement on Wednesday revealing the news.

The 20-year-old goalkeeper signed from Stade de Reims.

Ewen Jaouen stands 6ft 6 and is United’s first signing of summer 2026.

Eddie Howe declaring: “Ewen is a great addition and I am delighted to welcome him to Newcastle United. He is an exciting young goalkeeper who has shown real promise during his time in France. He has a calmness and presence that belies his age, and he’s someone we feel can grow and improve within our environment.”

A busy summer is anticipated at St James’ Park.

Ewen Jaouen is also the first senior signing made since Sporting Director Ross Wilson arrived at the club in late 2025.

Ross Wilson (pictured below on the left, Ewen Jaouen on the right) stating: “We are delighted to welcome Ewen to Newcastle United. This is a signing we have been working hard on for a number of months, and we are really pleased to get it over the line. Ewen is a hugely talented young goalkeeper who has gained a lot of admirers across European clubs, and he has a n exciting future ahead of him.”
