Newcastle United handed the Monday night slot away to Leeds United.
Sadly, just the first of many Premier League games on a Monday night that NUFC fans will find themselves ‘enjoying’ this season.
So all of the other nine Premier League fixtures to be played this weekend before we reach the match at Elland Road.
Which includes seven today.
As a Newcastle United fan, have a look at these Premier League fixtures on Saturday and have a think about what you’d like to happen and what is most likely in terms of results.
My conclusions and predictions on Saturday’s matches
Villa v Forest (3pm)
Two of the bottom five meet in this one.
Villa having had to sell many of their best players due to UEFA SCR pressures and not looking too clever so far. Emery’s team haven’t scored a single goal and their only point coming from a poor goalless draw against Hull.
Forest should have won at Anfield but Liverpool carrying a lot of luck to draw 2-2 having been two down. A goalless draw against Spurs and only losing to Leeds in the 88th minute is pretty solid form for Forest.
My head tells me this will be a draw but it wouldn’t shock me if Forest get a surprise away win.
Bournemouth v Brentford (3pm)
Two really good teams that play some very decent football. It could be any result here but playing at home I fancy Bournemouth to win this.
Chelsea v Hull (3pm)
As usual, the media ready to jump on any Chelsea bandwagon and proclaim them as some new brilliant reset.
The fact is they have carried their luck so far and have conceded seven goals in three EPL matches and very fortunate to have six points from a 3-2 against a poor Fulham side and a 4-3 against Brighton.
I have seen numerous predictions of Chelsea going to win this one by five or more goals.
Total disrespect when Hull have kicked off the season unbeaten and haven’t conceded a single EPL goal in three matches, whilst defeating Man U and Coventry, then drawing with Villa.
I don’t think it is impossible for Hull to get at least a point here if their defensive solidity holds up, whilst it is very difficult to see Chelsea keeping a clean sheet. An interesting combination here…
Palace v Ipswich (3pm)
No disrespect to either of these but no surprise this one isn’t getting shown on TV. Palace will be favourites to win and I would make them so, but not by much, another draw could be the outcome in this one.
Liverpool v Fulham (3pm)
Fulham look a bit of a mess after losing their manager and some key players this summer. They have lost all three EPL matches, even defeated by Sunderland.
Liverpool have looked less than convincing this season and a win against Ipswich has pasted over some cracks, their only league win so far.
Not impossible for Fulham to get something but I think they will need to score first to do so. If Liverpool take the lead then every chance the visitors will lay down and their manager another step closer to winning the Premier League sack race this season.
Spurs v Everton (5.30pm)
The club that had the most ridiculous net spend of all this summer, against a club that had to sell some of their best players and struggled to recruit adequate replacements.
Yet Tottenham in total chaos and lucky to have even one point, whilst Everton unbeaten and banking five points so far.
I am no fan of the Scouse Mackems but fair play to their team who have shown the battling qualities to win against Palace and come back from losing positions to get draws against Bournemouth and Man U.
Spurs have massively overpaid for what look at best a group of mainly average players and combined with the players already at Tottenham, they form a squad now that has so little character and fight.
Even more pressure on Roberto de Zerbi if the shambles continues and they fail to beat Everton. I think the Scouse Mackems will get at least a point and no surprise if they actually take all three, if they can get the lead then Spurs may well implode as the fans turn on them once again.
Sunderland v Arsenal (8pm)
Whilst I can’t stand Arsenal and now we also have the Bruno factor (even if sitting games out on the bench), I obviously have to want Sunderland to lose more than the Gooners AND I think that will be the reality.
Arsenal have won all their matches so far this season whilst Sunderland lost at Ipswich, scrambled a late 1-0 win in a game of shocking quality against Fulham, then fortunate to get a draw against Brentford.
With or without Bruno I think Arsenal will win this by at least a couple.
