It has now been revealed that Andy Howe has left Newcastle United.
His role was as senior football executive at St James’ Park, working under Sporting Director Ross Wilson.
The i Paper have the exclusive on this and stare that: ‘The nephew of Newcastle’s former boss Eddie, has left the club to pursue new challenges two months after Matthias Jaissle took over as head coach. The i Paper understands the departure is amicable and he leaves with the best wishes of the club, where he worked for five years as part of the scouting department before being part of total overhaul of the club’s recruitment operations.’
The departure of Andy Howe swiftly follows on from that of Steve Nickson, who was recently unveiled as the first ever Sporting Director at Wrexham after leaving United.
Steve Nickson and Andy Howe, along with Eddie Howe, were left in a ridiculous situation by the Newcastle United owners who were responsible for a shambolic summer 2025. The NUFC owners left the club with no CEO or Sporting Director active at the club throughout that key summer 2025 period.
Mark Douglas at The i Paper reports: ‘Andy Howe is credited with a major role in recruiting Sandro Tonali and he also played a big role in bringing current stand-in skipper Malick Thiaw to the club. He was highly-rated internally and played a key part in preparing for this summer overhaul alongside sporting director Ross Wilson. But he has decided to leave to find new challenges away for Newcastle, where he has worked for five years.’
