Very interesting change when asked Newcastle fans again how many points from first 6 matches

The question we were asking fans on Tuesday: How many points do you think Newcastle United will now pick up in their first six matches?

This was a repeat of a poll we put out before the 2026/27 Premier League season had kicked off.

We thought it would be interesting to see what, if any, change there had been after one week and two NUFC Premier League matches of the season.

Were Newcastle United fans more positive now on what the points total will be after half a dozen matches, less positive, or pretty much having the same expectations as they’d had before a ball was kicked in anger.

So when we asked the question (again) yesterday it was after two of the opening six EPL matches had been played, NUFC having started the season with a 2-2 draw at St James’ Park against Liverpool. Then following that up with a 2-0 away victory at Tottenham.

There now comes Bournemouth home, Leeds away, before Hull at St James’ Park. A three week  international break then eventually the sixth Premier League match of the season, Coventry away on Monday 12 October.

With four points from a possible six so far, out of now 16 possible points, we asked how many points will Matthias Jaissle’s team bank in total from the opening half dozen EPL matches?

Here are the responses from the Newcastle United fans who voted on this latest poll, the percentage of supporters who voted for each points number with each total rounded up/down to the nearest whole number (in brackets are the results when we asked the same question before the season had kicked off):

0 – N/A (3%)
1 – N/A (2%)
2 – N/A (2%)
3 – N/A (5%)
4 – 0% (9%)
5 – 0% (11%)
6 – 0% (13%)
7 – 3% (12%)
8 – 3% (12%)
9 –  4% (9%)
10 – 12% (9%)
11 – 14% (4%)
12 – 26% (4%)
13 – 9% (1%)
14 – 16% (1%)
15 – N/A (1%)
16 – 13% (0%)
18 – N/A (2%)

Looking through the stats above, some startling changes compared to expectations of Newcastle United fans before the season started.

Before the season started a majority (57%) of Newcastle United fans who voted believed NUFC would get 7 points or less from the opening half dozen games, that has now change to only 3%!

That then became 69% of fans believing Matthias Jaissle and his players would pick up 8 or less points from a possible 18, that has now changed to only 6% predicting that.

At the other end of things, before the season started only 13% of Newcastle United fans were thinking that NUFC would bank more than 10 points in the first six matches, that has now shot up to 78%!!

Here’s hoping the new manager and a much-changed team and squad can continue to build on this very early upsurge in positivity.
