Bournemouth fans renew acquaintances with Eddie Howe yet again.
A legend at the club, saving them from dropping into non-league and then taking them all the way through the divisions right up into the Premier League.
Interesting to see what Bournemouth fans are having to say ahead of Saturday’s match, regarding both Newcastle United AND especially their former manager.
The Cherries now set for managerial change themselves, with Andoni Iraola having confirmed he will leave Bournemouth this summer.
A win for Eddie Howe would see Newcastle United climb above his old club.
Bournemouth fans commenting via Up The Cherries…
‘It would be ironic, should we beat Newcastle, if Iraola’s team was responsible for Eddie being sacked.
Not that I would want the latter to happen.’
‘The Ex-AFCB Manager Derby.’
‘Got a good feeling about this one. Nothing rational or scientific, just a feeling that the boys will want to rip up the turf for the boss. I’m going for a win. Sorry Eddie but there it is.’
‘Newcastle not in a good place in the league, and hopefully the players will be desperate to make sure Iraola’s last games go out on a high.’
‘Ironically, Andoni Iraola has been linked with the Newcastle job if they replace Eddie.’
‘Hard to expect how our players approach this game with the recent news. Maybe they’ll be determined, or maybe they’ll be deflated.
Newcastle missing out Joelinton and Guimaraes which is a boost for us, as they have clearly missed them going off recent form.’
‘My ticket has arrived and it actually worked, gives me confidence for another spectacular win at St James’s for what will be my last trip as a northern resident.
Marvellous.’
‘The sooner we get the new manager signed and watching our remaining games the better. Knowing that the new boss will be watching is one reason less for the players to take their foot off the gas in the remaining games !
I expect a draw or a win from this one. Eddie never beats us.’
‘Judging by Newcastle fans comments on the Beeb and my neighbour who’s a Toon fan, their view is ‘Thanks Eddie, but it’s time for a change’.’
‘I speak to a couple of Newcastle fans. Haven’t seen one of them for a while but the other one actively rants about the idiot toon fans with short memories. Class is permanent etc etc.’
‘I must admit the saying ‘careful what you wish for comes to mind..’
‘I work with a Newcastle based company a lot and they are split down the middle and argue continually.’
‘Wissa has four goals in six appearances against Bournemouth, with three of those goals coming last season.’
‘There are six matches to go, and if we win all six I’d imagine we’d be in a Europa League place at a minimum. Maybe even an unlikely snaffling of that final CL place.
However, the chances of us winning all six are almost zero, and I’m not suggesting that will happen, so then it’s a question of what we might do and where that would leave us.
Ignore everything that’s gone before, it’s a six match shoot-out for European places and everyone from 14th up is involved.’
‘I’d been happy with 50 points at the start of the season, and very much so during our 11 game winless run. And the chances are that we’ll exceed that by a bit.
Its quite ambitious, but possible. Our record is 56 points and if we did exceed that, then it would be an exceptional season.
We’d need to win 4 of our last 6, very tricky but possible. I think we’ll get 8-10 points.’
‘A draw would seem to be the result required to maintain the universe’s equilibrium, given that both managers are most likely meeting for the last time before moving on to their respective new clubs and given that since Eddie left us, he has refused to beat us.
Bookies really should factor in this sort of thing before setting their odds !’
‘Can Andoni Iraola Keep His Unbeaten Record Against Eddie Howe?’
‘As mad as it sounds, with the form that they are in and with them missing their captain and talisman (they don’t win many games without Bruno) I think that this is actually our easiest remaining fixture. For a top eight finish I feel that three points is a must here.’
‘Defeat could be the nail in Howe’s coffin….unbelievable that his ex-club could cost him his job?’
‘Eddie has done a great job up there in Newcastle, winning a trophy, taking them into Europe and top six finishes.
But one bad season and these things sadly are forgotten, not just by the owners, but also some fans.
The name of the game in the top league is money and success, Newcastle United owners are looking for a place in the European competitions and the ‘prizes’ it could bring.’
