The departure of Mike Ashley meant the return of Wor Flags to matches, as they ended their boycott more than four and a half years ago.

The pre-match flag displays once again becoming part of the matchday routine, starting with the first post-takeover match against Spurs at St James’ Park in October 2021.

Then ahead of the first home match of the 2022/23 season, Wor Flags invited all fans to consider helping them with future flag displays by setting up a regular monthly donation to assist in funding them.

Wor Flags earlier this week informing Newcastle United fans about their next St James’ Park display.

Something a bit different planned for the final home match of the season against West Ham today.

Wor Flags message to Newcastle United fans via their social media:

“We will be paying tribute to a club legend ahead of his final game in black and white at St, James’ Park.

Every Newcastle United fan knows how important Kieran Trippier has been and it is our opportunity to say thank you.

Help us give him a send off in style.”

Kieran Trippier was the very first signing made by Eddie Howe and the new Newcastle United owners back in January 2022 AND what a signing he has proved to be.

There have been many other excellent signings that followed him through the door but arguably Kieran Trippier was the key one, he set the standard and has proved to be arguably the best pound for pound signing made by NUFC these past nine transfer windows.

So if you are in a position to do so, please consider making a donation to Wor Flags to help support their displays.

These unpaid volunteers put in an incredible amount of time and work, especially this season when the match schedule has been relentless.

On Saturday it was made public that Emil Krafth will also be leaving this summer, the Sweden international giving a very emotional tearful interview as he explained just how much Newcastle United and the fans meant to him.

Wor Flags have now given a partial reveal ahead of the tribute to Kieran Trippier, plus a little bit of improvisation to make Emil Krafth part of today’s farewell, at the expense of a previous NUFC Sweden international…

The Wor Flags ‘goal’ explained:

‘Our Goal

Wor Flags goal is straightforward – to create displays at St James’ Park that are worthy of this great club. We will achieve this in the following ways:

Hundreds of black and white hand-held waver flags

Larger custom design one and two poler waver flags

Large text banners featuring messages of support

Foils, surfers and custom tifos’

On behalf of everybody who visits The Mag, we signed up in summer 2022 to make a modest regular monthly donation to help fund Wor Flags and that is ongoing.

If you would like to join us and make a personal individual contribution, then please go to Wor Flags, where you can set up a monthly donation (from as little as £1 per month and upwards) to Wor Flags, or a one-off contribution.
